The Colombian Association of United World Colleges, ACOMUNDO, is made up of alumni, relatives of alumni, and various friends of the movement. We are a non-profit organization and serve as the UWC National Committee in Colombia. This means we are the main link between UWC and Colombia.
Our UWC National Committee is made up of individuals who share UWC’s mission and values. These include:
UWC alums and their families – Former students who have attended UWC schools or short courses and their families, bringing firsthand experience of the UWC journey.
Education professionals – Teachers, school administrators, and educators who are committed to nurturing young minds and promoting transformative education.
Community leaders – Individuals from various sectors who support youth development and global citizenship.
Other volunteers – Supporters of UWC who contribute their time and expertise to help select and guide students.
Our Mission
To contribute to improving educational opportunities for young people in Colombia by awarding scholarships and placements at international educational institutions within the UWC movement, other than the Association itself, and through activities that promote and facilitate access to quality education for these youth.
To achieve this mission, various activities are carried out, including:
Promoting and continuously seeking national partners that allow us to bring this opportunity to the largest and most diverse group of young people possible.
Designing and implementing a fair and rigorous selection process to choose the students who are annually awarded places and financial support at the different schools of the movement.
Fundraising for social purposes and to provide economic support to cover additional expenses for students from low-income backgrounds.
